If mayhem strikes:
don’t be afraid of not knowing what to do
and know where you are from.

Föreläsningen arrangeras med ytterligare stöd av Canada Counsil of the Arts.

If mayhem strikes:
don’t be afraid of not knowing what to do
and know where you are from.

Nadia Ross presents the tactics she uses when the mayhem strikes: of creation, production and ultimately, identity.  Ross’ practice has been deeply influenced by the region she was born in and works from, a rural region that lies right at the border between Francophone Quebec and English Canada. From the mayhem that comes from not feeling a singular cohesive identity, to the mayhem of working in collaboration, Ross goes over the basic tools of her practice when facing change, confusion and chaos, tools that help craft her intimate and complex body of work.

Nadia Ross is the founder and artistic director of STO Union. In 2016, Nadia was named the winner of the Siminovitch Prize (Canada’s largest theater award). Nadia’s working practice is defined by multiple sources of inspiration shaped by politics, language, psychology and other art forms outside of the theater medium. Her work is informed by a method that goes against the traditional framework of theater production. The method is focused on cultivating and developing projects through an open process that respects and values the subtleties and nuances of experience, tradition and culture.

The Autonomous Actor is arranged with support by Svenska Kulturfonden. The lecture is supported by the Canada Counsil of the Arts.
